Its my party and I'll cry if I want to!

Actually he really didn't cry. He was just sad. Max started acting funny yesterday afternoon. Jessica had a bbq because Carrie was in town so it was a good opportunity for us all to get together. We took Max there for dinner and he wouldn't eat there so we knew something was up. He rarely turns down food, although it has been happening more and more lately. It was all downhill from there. He wouldn't eat anything when we got home either. He screamed his way through his bath which has literally never happened. He is always calm in the bathtub no matter what. He went to sleep but was up again around 11 crying. Then was up every hour until I let him sleep in our bed around 4 am. Needless to say none of us got any sleep and I was so upset thinking how his party was going to be ruined. We're still not sure if this is because of teething or something else, but whatever it is, we just felt bad for Max. We all ended up sleeping for a few hours. Max was still not himself in the morning but he took a long nap before the party so I was hopeful that he could still come through....Nope. He was just as miserable when he woke up and throughout his whole party. SOOO TYPICAL that he has never been sick or unhappy for more than an hour in his whole life and for his 1st birthday party he did not crack a smile the whole time. Poor guy. He really did hold it together though for most of it. He wasn't screaming/crying or anything, just really quiet and tired and not himself. Everyone else had a great time though! Lesson learned...don't put too much time or effort into a first birthday party because you never know with a 1 year old, they are so unpredictable. Didn't I just say a few days ago that I knew he would cry or sleep through the whole thing? That was a pretty good prediction. Click here to see all of the pictures: Max's first birthday party
