Worst. Restaurant. Ever.

Wednesday night we still hadn't made plans for Valentines day. I don't know how we do this every year but I always wait until last minute and forget that things book up. Especially since this year it was on a Saturday night. I called a few places a few days before but all the normal places were booked. I went on opentable.com where you can find restaurants and they tell you when they are available etc. So there was very little available and mostly bad times. There was one place that had times available around 8 called Cafe Promenade. Its in the Marriott near Camden Yards. The menu looked good...mostly seafood but plenty for Mark to choose from as well. There weren't many reviews on it but we figured it was because it was newer and maybe people didn't know about it yet. I should have taken pictures to describe our experience there. The best comparison I can make is either a hospital cafeteria or the dining room at North Oaks, the assisted living place where my grandfather lived. Everything from the nonexistent decor to the one waitress working there to the 30 minutes between each course, to the elevator music playing was just so not a place we would ever choose to go. The food was not horrible and I didn't think the prices were that bad. For $91 total we both had a 4 course meal. It was a limited menu for Valentines day which most places are I know. I had crab soup, a salad (that was 2 pieces of lettuce on a plate), crab cake and scallops for my meal and then a dessert. Mark had the same but with chicken of course. The food tasted ok and I was definitely very full when we left, but it kind of seemed like they were going to another restaurant to get it and then just heating it up before they brought it to our table. The waitress would bring out the plates and then go to each table asking if it was what that table ordered. It was so ridiculous. We saw several tables asking for the manager and leaving before they even got their food. We did laugh alot and I personally had a nice time. I don't know if Mark agrees. It was just very disappointing to have all these great places to go in Baltimore and end up at a place like this when we don't get to go out by ourselves very much. I really should have taken pictures to document the experience but you get the idea. So we learned our lesson, you can't just find a random restaurant on opentable that is available on a big holiday and expect it to be good. Do not go there under any circumstances even if it is the last place available next Valentines day.

I'm sure it was a couple years ago by now, but my grandmother lives in North Oaks. It's like a luxurious dorm. I'm not even kidding about wanting to live there - I mean who doesn't want all the luxuries that come along w/ being 85??????
