No School!

School's closed today for the snow. It was barely a dusting when they closed but its expected to get worse throughout the day and I bet we'll be closed tomorrow too. Yesterday was a professional work day so I was working but didn't see kids. I swear working for the school system is like working part time even when you work full time. Does anyone disagree? Thats why if I have to work full time next year I'm ok with it because its the best "full time" job. I mean a "full day" is 8:30-3:40 and I really don't remember the last time there was a full week with no delays or days off. I do feel bad for the speech kids who miss multiple sessions due to holidays, professional days and snow days, especially because I'm not sure what will happen with my kids at the end of the year when I'm out on maternity leave. But what can you do? I'm there doing my job on the days when school is open! And I'll be there until I go into labor I guess. I was at work about 15 hours before Max was born.

A few days ago Max and I went to Cici's all you can eat Pizza with Gigi. I have to admit I have always wanted to go there. Its all you can eat pizza, salad and dessert for like $6. And it is the type of place that you probably shouldn't go when you are pregnant. Probably not the cleanest place to eat but I'm going with the everything in moderation thing this time around. The food was pretty good but the cutest part was there was an arcade and Max loved it. I can just see max sitting home on Saturday nights when hes 16 in front of the Wii or xbox or whatever they will have by then instead of going out with his friends. To be honest I'd rather him be antisocial than out driving around. Do kids still just drive around and make stops at random places like 711 all night and go nowhere or was that just when we were in high school? Here he is looking like a big kid:

Speaking of looking like a big kid, I'm having the hardest time figuring out what to do with his room and the baby's room. Right now, Max is still in his "baby room". Its painted green and has a bee theme going on that I love for him but I don't know if its too babyish now that he'll be a big brother. Its not overly decorated or overly babyish but its definitely not "big boy". The other room that we have is a little bit bigger and its painted a tan office color because that was supposed to be our office if I wasn't having another baby so soon. So it would make sense to put the baby in Max's room and switch him to the other room and get big boy stuff but I don't want to do that. I want to get a new set for the baby and leave Max where he is. It seems like a pain to move him out of that room when he just got into it 5 months ago. Plus we would have to do it soon because I wouldn't want to do it right when I have the baby. If we leave him in there that would mean painting the other room, getting new baby stuff and then in a year or so from now, just updating Max's room with some big boy decorations. His crib converts into a toddler bed so we'll be able to use it for a long time. I'll probably just do that. One reason I don't want to use his room for the baby is I did his room in neutral colors and theme since we didn't know what we were having but this time I want to do pink or blue now that I know that its not nessesary to have the baby's room decorated right when you get home from the hospital. I'm sure anyone reading this cares about this situation.

I care!! I love this entry. I hope too my kids would rather stay home than go out driving around. How did our parents let us go? I guess since we are girls we were always more mature and responsible. But boys are macho and they try to impress people and drive fast. Let's revisit this in 14 years. I think you know what to do about the room situation. It seems you want to put the new baby in the spare bedroom so you should. You are the only one who will ever care about where the new baby sleeps so you should ultimately do what you want. I'm sure Max won't resent you for the rest of his life if you give his little sister or brother the bigger room. I'm sure I wasn't mad when I left for college and my sister took over my room.

Even though I see or talk to you every day. It is great to read your blogs about Max.
