Yes you read it correctly, Mark got a new job and we are moving to Baltimore hopefully over the summer. He will be working for the Harlem Globetrotters doing Marketing and he'll be working out of our home. So...that means we'll be buying a house and I'll be getting a job. Lots of things to think about over the next few months but we know it will all fall into place.
It is a crazy feeling to know that this is what we have wanted for a long time and its finally happening. Its bittersweet in alot of ways. Its hard for Mark to walk away from the company he has worked for for a long time. He is very dedicated to his work, so any change is tough. Plus working from home will be very different. For me, I never thought I would have my first child in Virginia Beach and thought I would hate it but it turns out it was a blessing in disguise. We lived in an apartment here which allowed us to live on Mark's salary alone and I was able to stay home with Max for his first year. I know not many mom's can do that today. Plus I met some great friends through work and Max has a bunch of adorable playmates with wonderful moms who I have become friends with through the JCC and the book club I am in.
I never thought I'd be saying this but there are things I will miss about it here. The number one is being home with Max all day but I knew that that was not a realistic lifestyle that we could continue forever. I was also kind of excited to go to the beach with him and take walks during the summer but we might still get to do some of that depending on when we move. I think part of what makes it a little sad for me is that this is all I have ever known as a mother and its kind of sad to think that my baby was born here and we won't live here anymore...almost like hes not a baby anymore :(
Now for the positive things about this. We get to buy a house and finally put roots down somewhere where we know we will be for a while. We will live near family and not have to travel 5 hours in the car to go to a holiday dinner. Mark will be around at night and on the weekends and we'll get to spend so much more time as a family (actually he will be around ALL the time since he's working from home) We have lots of friends in the area and alot of them have babies. We will be able to go out on the weekends and have free babysitting! I will get some adult interaction during the work week and have something to do other than going to Target (What is Target going to do without me?) Most importantly we will be able to raise Max in an environment that we know and love surrounded by people who love him.
So thats it for now. We have a feeling that once we move it will be only a short time before
we are completely adjusted to our new life. I'll keep updating as things move forward!
