Life

This will start with a more serious tone and end with the the normal ramblings. I haven't posted in a while, mostly because I've been really busy with work. I haven't felt this way at work for a long time, since before I had kids and I'm not liking it too much. Baltimore County had this great idea (maybe it is all of Maryland actually) that parents need to have everything being discussed at an IEP meeting 5 business days prior to the meeting. This makes sense for the parents and I understand why a parent with a child in the system would be all for this new rule. But for those on the other side of it-we're not so for it. Any test results you are going to discuss, anything in general that you are going to say to a parent, has to be in their hands in writing in the mail. This is a HUGE difference because everything is due 2 weeks before its really due. I know this make no sense to anyone who hasn't worked in a school, but really its a big change and its stressing me out. I feel like on my days off I am really working because I'm doing paper work at home. I'm rushing through my reports to get them done in time and I just feel like it's not my best work because I don't have as much time. I might as well be at work full time, because I'm working every day, which is actually 99% in the works for next year. We're working out the details now and trying to decide what makes sense. So that is one reason I'm slacking with the blogging.

The other thing is that there is just alot going on in general. Alot of big things. With family, with friends, I'm not going to get into any one of them in particular. I think that when I was younger, I just assumed that everyone's life was "normal". I'd hear about a story here and there, someone who went through some significant life altering thing-a parent passing away, a sickness, a disability, etc. And it was uncommon so when you heard of something like that it stuck with you, like those things don't really happen to people that I know. And now as I've gotten older, I feel like more and more things are happening. More significant events in our lives and other people's lives. More sad and scary things that noone would ever have seen coming. Things that change people's lives in one second. This week in particular has been one that has made me feel like I need to just stop and enjoy life as it is right now. I think that is my purpose in this whole blog, to remember the every day things and be able to look back at it and look at what has changed for the good and bad. I am just really counting my blessings and trying to soak up and enjoy every second that is the "norm". You just truly do not know what tomorrow will bring. I don't know if any of that just made sense but anyone who is going through your "thing" right now, your hard and significant event in your life-I think about you every day.

Anyway, I've just had alot to think about lately and it has taken away some of my free time.

On a lighter note...
We all had the stomach bug in the few days before Thanksgiving. I won't get into details except this was Max on the sofa on my leg while there were men in my house cleaning the carpet.

AND when he woke up from this nap, he threw up right in the living room. Luckily it was before the guys had gotten to that part of the carpet. Lovely

Luckily we were all better in time for Thanksgiving

Grandma and Grandpa were here for a few days and we hung out with them alot. It was a nice relaxing long weekend. Now here we are, the first night of Chanukah already. Check them out opening presents last year

And this year

They had fun and liked their presents. Max got an ATM and Mallory get a talking Elmo.

Here are some ramblings as promised

-I buy toothbrushes and toothpaste for my kids all. the. time. As in like every other week maybe. And I swear every time I am ready to brush their teeth, I can't find a toothbrush or the toothpaste. But I see them around our house all the time. It is so annoying!!
-Max is oddly obsessed with 80s music and is always putting on my 80s cds and singing along to Girl's just wanna have fun!
-We are getting a new kitchen table-thought it was time since ours is so small and only has 2 chairs and now we are a family of 4! So my inlaws and my parents chipped in to get us one for our anniversary. We ordered it a while ago and I finally schedule the delivery for today even though they won't have 2 of the chairs until January (don't get me started). So they give me the 8-12 time frame and I assume they will call me on the way or something. I had to take Max to school at 9 and thought I'd be fine since they would probably be late because of the horrible rain. Do I even need to finish this story? Who can't guess what happened. I left my house at 8:45. They got here at 9, stayed until 9:15. I got back to my house at 9:20 and still don't have my kitchen table. They are coming back next week.

That's all for tonight. Happy Chanukah!!
