This new "phase"

Everyone is telling me this is just a phase and he'll get through it and go back to normal but its been over a month now that things have not been "normal". Hes going to bed after 10:00 and waking up before 6. What is he, 17 years old? That is not a schedule for a 2 year old. Mallory on the other hand is going to bed at 7 and sleeping through the night on some nights until between 6 and 7!! On the nights she doesn't sleep through the night, shes up one time to eat and back to sleep until close to 8 when I have to wake her up to feed her before I go to work. I'm thinking now that she is going to bed so early, that gives us some alone time with Max to hopefully wind him down and get him in bed at a normal hour. This can't continue forever can it? How is he not exhausted? Its one thing to stay up late but how is he also waking up during the night and/or waking up so early? I don't understand. I mean I know I feel great when I get 8 hours of sleep at night but from what I've read, a child his age should be getting around 11 hours of sleep at night and then another few hours during the day. I wonder what would have been happening right now if he had never broken his wrist. I know its pointless to wonder about something we can't change but it seems like that really ruined everything. Having to change him to a bed way before we were ready, not sucking his fingers anymore to soothe himself to sleep. Its been all downhill since then! He is lucky hes so cute otherwise this would be harder to deal with :)
