We've made it through my first 2 days of work. Surprisingly, leaving the kids hasn't been that hard for me. The mornings are working out kind of perfectly. Max wakes up around 6 (typical). I'm able to go down and give him breakfast and get a few things together and get ready before Mallory even wakes up which is great. She has been getting up after 7 which is perfect because I get her dressed and feed her and by that point its almost 8:00. Our nanny (Shawn) gets here around then and I'm out the door. I don't feel sad or bad for leaving them. Does that make me a bad mom? Its just that I know they are being taken care of and they are both perfectly happy. Mallory doesn't even know I'm gone and Max is just so excited that Shawn has keys and a phone to play with. "Shawn's keys" "Shawn's Phone". By the way he has totally taken off with talking and its so cute. So the nanny thing is working out so far and Max even peed on the potty for her today! (I wasn't really planning on starting all of that yet but we got him a potty and she had him sit on it for a while today and it happened!)
The hard part is that I am only working part time this year and although I have less kids and am only at one school, it is still going to be hard to fit everything into those few days. And I can't do any work at home because...I just can't. There is absolutely no time once I walk into my house. Plus, being a nursing mommy, I have other obligations at work that I've never had before. I don't know if everyone knows what that means but between taking care of all of that, and having bus duty, lunch duty and hallway duties, and blocking off a whole day for IEP meetings, I'm not sure how I'm going to fit 30+ kids into the schedule for therapy but it will happen. Once I take away all the time for other obligations, I have about a day and a half to actually see all the kids. I'll make it work somehow. It does feel good to be back at a school where I have already worked instead of being new. Only about 9.5 months until the summer :).
