Language Explosion

I know that not everyone picks up on these things because not everyone is looking for them. It just seems like the past week or so, I have noticed a total increase in the amount that Max understands. I guess since I have worked with children with delayed langauge skills, its amazing for me to watch normal langauge development every day. Max understands when we say, go get a book, close the book, wheres the bee, wheres the dog, wheres mommy, daddy, gigi, etc, turn off the light. He picks up whatever he is holding and puts it to his ear like a telephone when we say "hello". When I do "bzzz" like a bee, he knows I'm going to tickle him and he makes a face in anticipation. Hes still waving and clapping like crazy. Its just so neat to see that everything I've been saying to him and doing with him since he was born is finally all coming together for him.

Anyway, work is going well. Its the first week with kids and as a speech therapist I usually spend the first week just getting a schedule together, meeting with a few kids, going through files, visiting classrooms and not really doing speech therapy. I'm actually anxious to start a more normal routine next week. Its been 3 weeks of preparing! Daycare was closed this week for renovations. Closed for a whole week and did we get a discount for the month??? Nope. My mom and Mark's mom split the job of taking care of Max for the week and I have to say, it was alot less stressful knowing that he was with them instead of at daycare. Oh well, they both work so that can't be a permanent situation. He is not going to be happy when he sees where he's going on Tuesday morning.

Our house is ready and looks great we just haven't had the time to actually make the move yet. We just need to have a few consecutive days where we aren't doing anything else and that just hasn't happened recently. I think this weekend might be it. We're excited. Here are a few recent pictures of Max. No matter how long the work day is, I honestly forget about it all when I come home and see him.

Can you hear me now? Good.

What could be cuter than this:

This picture makes me think of what he will look like when hes 16 and I'm like Max get out of bed, you are going to be late!
