First of all, I have a healthy 3 year old boy with a brand new shiny silver tooth. He did great and the only thing I will do differently if there is a next time is make sure I get the first appointment of the day. His 12:00 appt turned into a 1:30 appt because the dentist was running late. He hadn't eaten since before 6:00 am and it was a very long time to be in a waiting room with him. The going to sleep and waking up were the worst part. I had to hold him in a chair and restrain him while they held a mask over his face until he got enough of the gas to go to sleep. Imagine hands flailing, crying, screaming, and then eyes rolling back and passing out. Not a pretty picture. The procedure was right around an hour long. When he woke up he was kind of twitching and crying, then rolling around the hospital bed and we had to really keep him from hurting himself. He was that way until we got in the car where he fell asleep, then he was in and out of sleep for the next hour when we got home. Then he was outside playing 2 hours after waking up and has been fine ever since. I took no pictures of that day because I was just anxious and felt weird snapping pictures in a hospital waiting room. You cannot see his new tooth at all even when he laughs, unless he is laying down and you are looking right down his throat.
So the other things I had to stop and be thankful for this weekend...
These 2 playing in the sand in their matching coverups.
My children not only having all 4 grandparents but having them all together in one house for the weekend
Mallory loving and looking up to her big brother no matter what he does to her!
Beautiful weather and clear skies and watching Max have real conversations
Napping boys sleeping in the same position
Seeing Mark break the fast with cinnamon raisin bread at Harpoon Hannah's
Seeing my kids dance to Free Falling and Ride around Sally
And seeing our families watch them and smile and dance along.
Knowing that this isn't their first time and won't be their last time getting ice cream on the boardwalk

Although it might be the last time I'll be able to get both of them in the stroller.
So yeah, it was a great weekend and although G-d probably wouldn't have recommended the trip during the Holiest day of the year, I think he would be happy that we were all together and appreciating what we have (and that some of us did fast).
Hope those who celebrated took the day to reflect on whatever is most important in your life :) I know we did.
