I would love to be writing a well thought out and interesting post, but I have no access to my computer because several of the keys are not working. It has happened before but usually starts working again soon after. This time its not going back to normal and I can't even unlock my computer because there is an "f" in my password and the "f" doesn't work. So this will be a boring run on post with no pictures because I'm on Mark's computer. I have too much to share so I can't wait, maybe I'll add pictures when my computer is working again. Sorry.
So the things about Max I had mentioned before. The major thing is he is scheduled for a procedure this week for his teeth. About a month ago he mentioned that his tooth hurt. He has never said this before so I took him seriously and made a dentist appointment. We had already been to the dentist a few months before for his first ever appointment and everything was great. No issues. I figured they were going to tell me it was nothing, or maybe something that was not a huge deal and didn't need treatment. Wrong.
The dentist looked in his mouth for a few minutes, casually mentioned that he did have a cavity (I wasn't that alarmed at that point because I figured thats not that rare and should be easy to fix). Then he tells Max to sit up and gives me this really serious look and I'm thinking...wait this is turning into a serious situation. He said some of his molars are "hypoplastic" which means that they did not completely calcify when they formed and they aren't as hard as teeth should be.I asked why and he said he had no idea, and its pretty rare but sometimes just happens. Those teeth were forming before he was born so its just some random thing that came together the wrong way. So, teeth that have this problem are really suceptable to cavities, which is why he got the cavity and why it progressed so quickly. And the best part is...these teeth don't do well with regular fillings so he needs this lovely metal crown on his tooth that he will have until he is 12. AND he needs general anesthesia for the procedure because a 3 year old boy (particularly my 3 year old boy) cannot sit still long enough. There are options like laughing gas and other medications they can administer in the office for older kids but for a kid like Max, its easiest and safest to do it when he is asleep. It is done in the OR at a hospital. So he'll have some x-rays taken, the crown placed (and any other problems fixed that they find), a good cleaning, and sealants on the other teeth to try and prevent this from happening again. He could never get through all of that in the dentist chair awake. Hopefully his permanent teeth won't be affected. I was just so upset to hear it all at first...I've had issues with my teeth as an adult and its just not fun, I can't believe he's starting with it all at 3.
So I'm listening to all this information holding back tears because its just alot to hear when a few days before, nothing was wrong. The dentist was really nice and understood that it was alot to take in and he told me I should go get a second opinion just because he knows its a big deal to a parent. So thats what I did. Well first, I went home and did some research and conviced myself that this was all my fault and I must have done something during my pregnancy that caused this. Then I got myself together and got over it and kept telling myself that there are much worse things. I made an appt with another well known pediatric dentist and saw him a week later and his recommendation was EXACTLY the same. So we're doing it this Wednesday and I cannot wait to get it over with. I'm so scared of the anesthesia part but I know lots of people who's kids have had it for various things and noone has had any major problems. I know in the scheme of things, its his teeth, its not an organ, its not his heart or anything else vital, its going to be ok and he is otherwise a healthy kid. But I know that Wednesday is not going to be an easy day and I just can't wait for it to be in the past. So anyone who reads this before then, just think about us on Wednesday morning...hopefully everything will go smoothly and he'll be back to his old self in no time.
I think I need to say everything else in list form because its getting too long. This is what else is going on....
--I am obsessed with the Twilight series now. Only took my 6 months and 3.5 books but I am finally so into it that I rush into bed everything night and think about it all day.
--Mallory has 7 pairs of jeans for the fall/winter along with piles and piles of other adorable clothing that I did not purchase. Love hand-me-downs (and Liz and my cousin Lisa)
--Max is a kid who absolutely needs structure in his life and I am so very excited for him to be at school tomorrow morning after a 4 day weekend.
--Mallory has about 6 teeth now...better get her to the dentist to see if I somehow ruined her teeth too ;)
--We went to Sesame Street Live for the 4th time. I would like to do some comparison pictures but I can't! Mallory loved the show. Max loved eating a soft pretzel and running around screaming and almost falling down a flight of cement stairs and making us all leave the show early.
--I'm feeling a little more stressed about work this year, kind of a change for me.
--We went to the beach for labor day weekend. Max loved the rides and we had a nice weekend with grandma and grandpa. That being said, Max was pretty poorly behaved (in mine and Mark's opinion) throughout the whole weekend and it was pretty draining to be with him for more than 5 minutes at a time. I would like to say something that Mallory did during the weekend but honestly its hard to even remember anything she did except get hit on the head by her brother. We're going back to the beach this weekend, this time with BOTH sets of grandparents so we'll see how it goes.
--Yesterday I woke up and realized it was cool enough for a non-summer outfit. I wore my skinny jeans with flats, a t-shirt with a new long open sweater that was pretty light. It was perfect for the morning but by the middle of the day I was sweating and when I was out I realized everyone else was wearing tank tops and flip flops. But I stuck it out and stayed in my swaeter the whole day because I was so excited to be wearing a fall outfit.
That's all my ramblings. Time for ice cream and then off to Edward, Jacob and Bella. Goodnight!

I LOVE this post! Poor Max's teeth. He will be just fine, Wednesday will come and go really quickly. I wish I could wear fall clothes! It'll be like December before I can wear jeans.
