McNuggets and Honey

I guess we've been busy (or lazy) because it has been 9 days since my last post. Max is done with camp. Now he has 2 weeks off before school starts. I started work this week. Work has such a different meaning to me at this point in my life. Everyone on facebook was so upset that school was starting and summer was over. For me, work just feels like something to do during the day. Something that is easier than a day at home. Having people to talk to in person and actually have a somewhat intellectual conversation. I'm sure I feel that way because I work part time. When I'm eventually back full time I'm sure I'll be thinking of it differently. Part time is the best of both worlds.

What have we been doing for the last 9 days...

We went to an engagement party for Mark's aunt and uncle downtown. It was at a really cool room in a condo building. Here we are with the baltimore skyline in the background

Mark's birthday was Saturday. We celebrated a little bit during the day

And then went out to Blue Hill Tavern with our neighbors that night.

The food was amazing and I'm contemplating getting an iphone just because of how we look in this picture taken by one:)

We went to the pool for one of our last times this summer

Yesterday was the first day back for staff at school and there was a welcome back/celebration for such a great year last year party at my principals house. It was fun.

Today is my first "day off" since the school year started yesterday. I took the kids to storyville this morning

And followed up with lunch at McDonalds

I know...I'm such a good mom. Not only do I take my kids to McDonalds but I let my 15 month old eat right off of the table. I did wipe it down with a baby wipe but still.

And when was the last time you had McDonalds chicken nuggets dipped in honey? I probably haven't since about 1987 and I did it today. Nothing better.

Max is so funny with things he says lately. I get excited to come home and talk to him whenever I'm away from him for a few hours because its just a cute age to have a conversation. Then again I'm not so excited to talk to him when he comes into my bed at 2am and stays there for the rest of the night-which has been happening pretty often for the last 2 weeks but I'll save that story for a different post.

Here are some funny "Max-isms"

McDonald's = Old MacDonald, ex: "I want to go to Old McDonald's for lunch!"
Mail = Nail, ex: "The Nail truck is here!"
Mistake = the snake, ex: "I hit Mallory's head by the snake!"

Haha...I still am just amazed at normal language acquisition. Like when Max says something like "Can you put Mallory's toy on the table so she can't get it?" Like...the question forms, the pronouns, the prepositions, the contractions...where do I ever begin to talk about a sentence like that? How can he say things like that when he didn't talk a year ago. Just amazing to me.
