Summer Lovin

Today was my last day of summer school. I can't say it was a hard job, but it was more than I have done for the past few summers so I want to really soak up the next few weeks at home before school starts. Its definitely winding down. I am so used to it being summer it's hard to imagine what the winter is like. What do we do all afternoon/evening when its freezing out? I am so used to just having the front door always open and seeing everyone outside, walking out there barefoot, wearing dresses and dressing the kids in easy summer clothes. I've definitely taken advantage of some things...

Going on spur of the moment ice cream or snowball or italian ice runs after dinner

Having a friend stop by in the afternoon and being able to have a snack outside

Mallory just wants to hang with the big kids...

Going to a playground and actually getting through a half hour by myself with the two of them with no major incidents!! Never thought I'd see the day

Being with the neighbors every night...Does every neighborhood have tons of preschoolers running around, pulling wagons, riding bikes, doing ring around the rosey and playing together all evening long with the adults sitting on lawn chairs talking, sharing desserts and wine?

I love our little Kibbutz

So I will miss all of this summer stuff and it is definitely the best season for when you have little kids but I am actually looking forward to some fall things too. I'm excited to see Max in cute cargo jeans and a long sleeve polo. And Mallory in leggings and a long sweater and boots. I feel like we are finally at a place with Max where we can actually do some fun fall activities...go on a hay ride, do a corn maze, go apple picking or something. For the past 3 years we've been saying "maybe next year" and now I think it's finally time. And Mallory didn't need any time, she was born ready to do those things! Anyway I'm just excited to experience this little family we have through the different seasons I guess. There will be good things about all of it. I'm sure I will be biting my lip for saying this but I think 3 years old is looking better than 2 years old so far so everything this year is just going to be better than last.

Carrie does this make you miss seasons? I mean..Kelle still talks about seasons all the time and she lives in Florida :)

Of course I am completely jealous...of your neighborhood, the seasons, and most importantly that your kids are already out.
