Decision Time

Ok...so I need to make some decisions. Mark leaves these things up to me so its enough of the putting it off. I need to just do it. Will you help me? First of all is the baby furniture. We have made the decision to keep Max in his room. He is still in his crib and I don't see that changing any time soon. When it does change, his crib converts into a toddler bed so we will get use out of his crib for at least another 1 to 2 years or more because it also can be used as a headboard/footboard for a full size bed. His dresser is from Ikea and it totally works for now. The only other thing is the glider that is in his room. I originally thought we would move that glider into the baby's room because Max wouldn't need it anymore. Now that I'm 30 weeks pregnant, I realize that he totally will still want and need the glider in his room when the baby comes. He still likes to be rocked and likes to read in that chair and I would feel bad taking it away from him. I feel like if we put that in the baby's room Max will be like wait, that is my chair, why is someone else being rocked in it and I don't have one in my room anymore! That is sad. So thats one issue...am I really going to get a second rocking chair for rooms that are right next door to eachother or is that ridiculous? I would try to find a cheap one at Target or something. Max has a nice one so I'm not getting another "nice" one.

Onto the baby's room. I want white furniture because every piece of furniture in our house is dark. I used to think white was more girly but now I think it doesn't matter either way and I like it for a boy too, as long as the crib is kind of masculine looking, which is hard to find. Here is the set I'm thinking about:
This crib:

With this dresser/changer

Here's the crib in a room:

The only thing is...I have never seen this stuff in person. Babies R Us sells it online but doesn't carry it in the store and I don't know where else does. I don't like the other white cribs in Babies R Us and there really aren't any other baby stores in Pikesville that I have looked at besides Bellini and I'm not getting a $1200 crib. I have been wanting to go to one of the baby stores in bethesda but I just looked up some of them online and I really didn't see anything there that I like more. I have heard good things about it except a few people have written reviews that say it is low to the ground. I don't know if thats a big deal or not. So the question is, should I just go with this stuff because I like it the most out of everything I have seen in the stores and online so far or should I wait until I have the chance to get to some different baby stores because I should see furniture in person before making a decision? If I order it online it doesn't take long to get here..like 2 weeks if its in stock. If I order it at a special baby store it could take much longer like 8 weeks. Thats another reason I want to just order something online, it makes it easier.

Here is a different set that I also like but I think its a little more girly with the white and because the back is curved and its also more like Max's crib and I'd like something different:

That one is also a name that I've never really heard of so it makes me a little nervous to have a not so popular crib.

Bedding isn't really an issue yet because I'm going to wait to order it until after the baby is born. I have girl stuff and boy stuff in mind but I am not getting it until after we know its a boy or girl because I know from last time that the baby doesn't even use its room at first. Well at least Max didn't. He slept in our room until he was 8 weeks old. I'm assuming this baby will do the same.

The other big decision is the stroller. I had a really hard time deciding between the ones where one baby sits in the front and one in the back or the ones where both babies sit side by side. The front/back ones are usually the ones that accommodate a car seat (for when the baby is really little). The side by side ones usually do not. Well I think I found the answer. This one is side by side and it also fits a carseat in one of the sides. The carseat I have won't fit perfectly but it seems to go in there and fit safely enough that I'll be able to use it. Here it is in the color I want:

So I guess its not much of a decision at this point. The only thing is I have read reviews that say the straps aren't great and other things about it but I know a few people who have it and love it. AND it felt so light to push when I tried it out at Babies R Us. I couldn't figure out how to open and close it but I'm sure I would after a few tries. I think that people who write reviews are only people who are unhappy with the product. I mean if you love something are you really going to take the time to go on a website and write about it? Probably not. I would probably only do that if I wanted to complain about something.

So someone just tell me what to do (Carrie/Rachel/Liz/Mom, I'm sure anyone else is responding). Have I done enough research to go ahead with the crib, dresser and stroller? Should I get a second glider or just use the one in Max's room and he will deal with it? The other thing is the glider is a wood color, not white so it wouldn't match perfectly. Remember I'm just saying Max still needs his glider so I can get a white one? haha.

Thoughts?

I can't believe you are even asking these questions. What is your dilemma? I feel like if you reread your post it will be clear what you want. Because when you write everything out, it always seems like you are leaning towards one direction anyway. And you are usually right. So, in my opinion, get a new rocking chair, get the babies r us furniture, and get that stroller!!! LOL!

OK... I think you need to get the side by side stroller... The one we put MAX in today at BabiesRus! (even though he might be able to touch (new Baby Fine).. I like the crib with the straight back not the curved one and I love the white.. We need to look for a white rocker.. Max still needs his glider so we can read "Goodnight Moon"

I definitely think the white furniture is the way to go. It looks so bright and modern. I like the first one best. It's a good idea to get the extra rocking chair...hey, I had two! Many nights I was in one room rocking and Alan was in the other room. Max will be upset if you take the one from his room. You can only expect him to share so much and I agree he's going to be upset if you move it to the baby's room. As far as the stroller goes... I like the one you picked, but it is soooo wide to get around in stores where the racks are close together. I really liked my front to back stroller. I could go everywhere with it and they weren't always taking things from each other. If one was sleeping the other couldn't reach over so easily and wake their sweet sibling up or take their toy, food, etc. Wish I lived closer so I could go shopping with you and help when the baby is born since I'm not working. Sure you don't want to move to Georgia??? (ha, ha) Your mom would never talk to me. :-)

Definitly get a new rocker. Both babies will need their own to be rocked in and read to. I love the white furniture for a girl or boy. I like the set you picked out alot too.
