Guess Who
Remember the game Guess Who? We had it and I always liked it when I was little and now I use it during therapy alot. Its good for practicing asking questions, identifying characteristics using adjectives and just thinking in general. I don't know if this story will make sense unless you have played the game before. The point of the game is you try to look at a bunch of different cards with people's pictures on them guess who the other person's character is by asking questions and using deductive reasoning until only one character is left. This is a VERY hard concept for most kids I work with. They just don't get it. I am usually very patient with these kids and it doesn't bother me when they are taking a little longer to get something. For some reason I was being kind of hard on this one kid who couldn't get the concept of the Guess who game today. He struggled through the whole thing and then finally after alot of help, he had 2 characters left. He asked me if mine had a mustache. I said no and since he needed help with every single step of this game, I told him which one that eliminated. So he then had one character left...the one who had to be mine. So I kept saying to him ok...look at the picture. Who am I? And he was just giving me a blank stare. Again I said look...the answer is right there. WHO AM I????? We went back and forth and he just didn't understand that all he had to do was say the name of the character he was looking at. So I keep saying WHO AM I? And finally he innocently says...You're...um you're...you're the speech teacher. hahaah, poor little guy. I just laughed and was like ok game over, great job, heres your sticker, go back to class.
