The things kids say

This stage that Max is in right now-I feel like every conversation could be on that show that Bill Cosby used to have where he interviewed kids and they just said funny things. I was looking at a journal that my friend has for her kids and I started wondering if I have documented enough of the things my kids say. I want to remember some of the things he says nowadays so here are a few

-I'm not sure if I have mentioned this before, but Max went through a phase (actually its been about 6 months of a phase) where EVERYTHING we said was wrong and he had to set it right. For example: Me: "Max look at that doggie", Max: "that's not a doggie!! It's not mommy! It's not okay? okay mommy?" and so on and son on. It was defiance to the extreme. It got pretty ridiculous and then eventually I would say "Ok Max, that's not a doggie" just to get him to stop saying "okaaayyyy??!!" He still does it a little bit but not as often. Now its more when he gets embarrassed or mad that we corrected him or reprimanded him in anyway. If he does something like stand on a chair and I say "Max, we don't stand on chairs, you could get hurt". He would say "Don't say that to me, we DO stand on chairs, we do! we do mommy okay??" And sometimes he just starts saying things that make no sense at all when he wants to get us back like "If you say that one more time, you're going to your room, I'm not playing with you anymore, you're being very bad!" I mean I guess it does make sense in some way it's just kind of backwards.

-Along those lines the other night I said something that made him mad I forget what and he said "If you say that again I'm taking away your wine!!" Now that would be a pretty good punishment I guess.

-We talk about "when he grows up" alot and I'll say who are you going to marry or who is going to be your wife? He used to say "I'm going to marry you and Daddy" but now if I say "are you going to marry Casey?" (his best girl friend in his class) he'll say Yes...Casey, and Zachary, and Lily and Harris". We'll see how that works out.

-The new favorite thing to say is "your butt". I'm not sure where he learned it and I know I should be discouraging it but it's just too funny sometimes. He'll interchange that phrase any time he can. Me: "What shirt are you going to wear?" Max: "your butt". And then sometimes he will just randomly say something like "your butt is in the car!" and rather than discouraging him I'll come back with something like "oh my god we have to go get it before it drives away!!" and he just cracks up because I am the funniest mommy in the world :)

Anyway I'm just having fun with his humor and sarcasm. I see alot of my personality traits in him and it's just really neat to see that in a little boy. I can only hope this gets passed down to his sister at some point. I can't say much about what she is "saying" at this point because it's not much. Well I can't say it's not anything-she is saying more words, just not at the rate we would like her to and not even on command. How did I get such stubborn children? Some of her accomplishments in the last few months include walking up and down the steps confidently and FINALLY being about to drink out of a juice box. For some reason, this is a tricky thing for my kids. Max took a while to do this too but today all of a sudden I looked at her and she was drinking Max's juice, not squeezing it all on the floor, not tipping it upside down and not just dipping the straw in and out of it licking the drop of juice that is on the bottom of the straw. This is a good thing because I would rather throw a juick box in her lunch box rather than actually pour a drink into a sippy cup. The little things that save time!

And finally...Welcome to the world Jett Noah Parri. You are a beautiful boy, born to my best friend of 28+ years. I am so proud of all of you and can't wait to meet you!! Your mommy needs to start blogging again.
