1. I am having extremely bad luck with internet ordering lately. In the past 2 months I have ordered 2 things from Etsy.com, one for Nathan which was this adorable set with personalized burp cloths, bib and onesie. The girl basically dropped off the face of the earth a few days after I ordered and payed for my stuff even though over 300 people had ordered from her before and never had a problem. I opened a dispute with Paypal and am hopefully getting my money back. The other was a 1st birthday gift for my neighbor-a cute personalized bowl that just never came even though the seller kept telling me it was on its way. She later realized that she never sent the file to the manufacterer and felt so bad that she offered me my money back or a free plate. I chose the free plate and made it for Max. Both things came today-about 6 weeks after I originally ordered it!!! i brought it over to Julia and was like "happy 13 months!". It's all cute but the "pale blue" that I chose for Max's is 100% purple/lilac in person and I would have never choosen it if I knew thats what it would look like. It does look pale blue in this picture but I swear, it is literally a color I would choose for a baby girl's nursery walls. Thankfully it was free and thankfully Max likes purple for now. Plus I can always tell him I did it for the Ravens.
2. I went on a field trip with Max and his school to a farm. I was so worried about it because usually Max is much better off when I'm not around. I was pleasantly surprised to see that he did great and was doing everything that all the other kids were doing even though I was there. He seems to really appreciate the alone time with me.
Lesson learned-I need to spend more alone time with Max doing fun things like this. AND 3 and 4 year olds don't like petting animals or being cold and do like bus rides and snacks.
3. A good friend (one of my best) brought it to my attention that I sometimes make Mallory seem like my "golden child" and that Max is the non-golden child and she feels bad for when Max sees what I have said about him when he is grown up. I think I jumped down her throat when she said this because really-that is never my intention on here and I was upset to hear that it comes off like that. I do say how they are both so different and I guess I do say Max has been "more difficult" thus far in his life as far as parenting him. But I also joke about how Mallory was forgotten about and not even talked to until she was like 1 year old. I think most of what I say about them is just first child vs. second child and boy vs. girl stuff. I feel different kinds of love for each of my children but it's not more or less for either of them and I know that they will know that as they grow up. Max might be the more challenging one as far as behaviors go so far but that almost makes me closer to him in certain ways. Max is perfect in some ways and not in others and same goes for Mallory. Plus its all just different the first time around-everything seems like a bigger deal and more dramatic. There are things that Mallory does now that I'm sure I thought were bad when Max did them. But now that I've been through it just doesn't seem like a big deal when she does them. It also might seem like I tell all on here but really I don't tell the truly personal things about any of us that I wouldn't want the world to know.
Lesson learned-reread everything and make sure I'm not unfairly favoring anyone without realizing it :) Also make sure to refer Max and Mallory to this post if they ever call me out on favoring one of them.
By the way, looks like the so called "golden child" is getting a little toddler attitude
We'll see who I'm calling golden in a few months :)
4. Our Halloween candy is almost gone. Lesson learned-remove it from the house a few days after Halloween or throw it away.
5. Max is up and its 9:24. Lesson learned-4-6 pm naps are not a good idea.
Goodnight!!
