At 8 months, Mallory:
*weighs 19.5 pounds...getting way too heavy to carry around in the carseat but we're still using it.
*says "Mama" and seems to know what it means!
*takes 2 longer naps or 3 shorter naps during the day
*is back to being up once a night!
*eats three meals a day...fruit and oatmeal in the morning, yogurt for lunch and veggie and rice cereal for dinner.
*nurses 4 times a day
*screeches back and forth with Max and thinks its so funny
*laughs alot
*has no idea what to do with a cheerio in her mouth and kind of just chokes a little and then swallows it whole
*sleeps on her stomach
*rolls around
*sits up really well
*doesn't really try to crawl(and mommy doesn't mind this time!)
*takes a Totland class on Monday and loves it
*still doesn't have any teeth
*puts everything in her mouth
*loves to be read to and sung to
*goes to sleep with a binky and either the swaddle me blanket around her legs or a sleep sack
*is STILL a very easy baby!
I know I say shes an easy baby in every update but it really is so obvious what easy is and what difficult is now that we have one of each type. I don't really like giving labels but I just got a few books that are helping me understand a little bit about childrens' temperaments. Before I had kids I think I believed that children's behavior and overall demeanor was mostly due to how they were raised. Now I am a firm believed that sooo much of who a child is, is just who they are when they are born. Of course parents have an influence on them but its definitely not everything.
Anyway...any parent who wants to know that they are not alone, read "The Difficult Child" by Stanley Turecki. I've only skimmed it so far and already feel much better about everything. It doesn't completely apply to Max but its still nice to read some of the stories and suggestions and see that this is all very normal! The other book I'm reading is "The No-Cry Sleep Solution" by Elizabeth Pantley. I've also only read a few pages but already feel much better about tackling the sleep situations (specifically getting him to go to sleep without having to sit in the doorway for an hour!). Last night he was asleep at 8:15 (after Mark laid on the floor next to his bed for only a few minutes...which as it turns out is ok to do if that's what the child needs according to this book!)
I'll do a 2.5 year old update for Max (our more "difficult" but still wonderfully sweet, smart, funny and adorable child) in a few weeks!
Here they are today on our nice walk at the Quarry. It felt like spring in January!
