Which is worse?

A. A normal day where Max takes a 2 hour nap after lunch (takes a little work to get him down but not too bad) but then he is crying and stalling until 9:30 at night when he finally goes to bed.

OR

B. A day when Max does not take any nap and it completely overtired and wound up and I get no break but he goes to bed at 7:30 with no fight.

I really don't know what I would pick if I had a choice. Both are really hard. I think today was the hardest day I've had since I've had kids.

When I got home from work yesterday I knew something was wrong with Max. He seemed ok at first but within 10 minutes he was a hot crying mess who couldn't even talk or breathe normally. I called my pediatrician at 4:15 and was lucky to get the last appointment. I was there with Mallory the day before to check her ears but she was fine. I really think I should have a monthly pass to this office at a discounted rate because we are there at least weekly. Turns out Max has strep which explains why he was so miserable. He started the antibiotic last night. He went to bed around 9 and was up around 4. I gave him the second dose of medicine, hoping he would go back to bed but he was up until 5:30. Luckily he did go back then and we all slept in until 8:30. I think that is what threw off the day because normally hes up at 6:30 or earlier and then tired for a nap after lunch. He was never tired today. I was looking forward to a day of staying in with the kids, watching sesame street and just relaxing. I figured I would go to the drive through starbucks after lunch and Max would fall asleep on the ride back and that would work out perfectly. Well after a long morning I loaded them in the car and went to starbucks, got my skinny caramel machiato. Max wasn't sleeping when I got there but I figured he definitley would be when we got back. He still wasn't sleeping when we got close to home so I decided to make it a long car ride and go all the way out to sams club to get gas. But when I got there I realized I didn't have our sam's club card so I drove all the way back to close to our house to get gas. Max STILL wasn't sleeping. So that was an hour of our day that was wasted (well I did get Starbucks and gas so it wasn't a complete waste). When we got home I figured I would try the old fashion way of just putting him in his room and seeing if he would go to bed. He laid down a few times but no sleeping. It was almost 3:30 at that point so I gave up. I have never done that before. He has never not napped at all. He's had days where he only took a 30-40 minute nap but never nothing. I was scared. Not only did I know that he would be exhausted and miserable by bedtime but I needed the break! He is so active and into everything plus I had Mallory too and I was alone for the whole day including dinner and bedtime. I somehow got through it, got Mallory in bed at 7 and gave Max a bath and got him to sleep by 7:30. That doesn't even sound like that bad of a day when I look back at it but I am very excited to go to work tomorrow. Its kind of sad because as hard as this day was, I know its also the kind of day I will look back on in 5 years, 10 years and forever and think, I wish I could go back to that...having my babies safe at home all day sitting on my lap, playing, singing and watching sesame street all day. I think he will go back to napping though. I'm hoping it was all a part of sleeping late and the combination of medicines and everything. And if not, I do appreciate the 7:30 bedtime so at least I have that to look forward to!

Looking at these pictures, you'd think we had a fun day!

Enjoying the wind blowing in his hair. He was saying "wind! wind" He really needs a haircut:

And Mallory is almost sitting unsupported. She only needs a little help:

Here is Max when he started sitting up around the same exact age.

I think this one could really be Max with a pink blanky
