Kicked out of story time

Yes...Max, Mallory and I were actually asked to leave story time at Barnes and Noble today. I was meeting the other girls and baby's from our baby class there and I had both kids today. Max's daycare is closed this week. So I got us all ready to go and was out of my house by 9:45 which is not easy to do! I end up putting Max in the car (leaving the cardoor open so he doesn't get overheated) and then coming back in my house for a few minutes because it is SO hard to get us all out the door at the same time. Anyway we got to Barnes and Noble, I get them both in the stroller, get my coffee and go over the the children's area. The story had already started. I got Max out of the stroller because he was squirming around and starting to whine and I tried to hold him on my lap. Of course he wanted to go up on the little stage and I thought that would be ok. The story lady told him he had to get down. Well... I knew that was probably going to not be a good thing. He started complaining and wouldn't sit still so I took him to look at some books (leaving Mallory sleeping in the stroller with the other kids and moms). He saw a Hungry Caterpillar pop book (he loves that story) and he wanted to look at that but it was wrapped in plastic so I couldn't take it out of there. He started flipping out and crying. I ran to try to find another normal caterpillar book and when I found it I sat down with him and started reading it to him and he did calm down. But he was just already set off and when I tried to take him back to where the story was going on he flipped out again. Before I knew it the story lady came over and said "is this our cryer...well we can't read with him doing that and you are going to have to leave". I literally almost started crying. I said "ok well I have to go get my other child over there". I picked Max up kicking and screaming and walked through the other mom's and kids who were all staring. Fought with Max to get him back in the stroller and waved goodbye to everyone. It was soooo embarrassing. I understand the lady's point but seriously...its a children's story time, I've been to these things before (not there) and usually there are kids walking around being loud and doing what they want and then there are some quiet kids who are really listening to the story. It was just so degrading to have someone tell me I had to leave. I ended up walking around outside and Max fell asleep in the stroller and then I went back in to talk to the girls in there after the story was over. Oh well..I know for next time not to take him there. Maybe Mallory will be the quiet story time type of child.
