Weird attachments

Max has never really had an attachment to anything normal like a blankey or a stuffed animal. Instead he gets attached to things like phones, remotes, and other random objects that he gets his hand on. Once he likes something like that he doesn't want to let it go and cries if it is taken away from him. He will get through a whole meal holding onto a cell phone, its actually pretty impressive. Well today he somehow found the top to a blush compact that I must have had in a makeup bag. It had a mirror on it and he for some reason just liked holding it. He took it in the bathtub with him and then when it was time to go to bed I put it in bed with him, he laid down with it and I took it away because I didn't want him sleeping with that next to his head. He threw a fit! He was so upset and hysterically crying so I gave it back to him and let him fall asleep holding it. This is what he looked like an hour later:
I snuck it out of his crib so hopefully he won't wake up and notice in the middle of the night. Is he weird?
