I joined the 21st century and got an iphone on my birthday last week. Surprisingly I think I am somehow a little less connected than I usually am. I've found that I am forgetting to check the blogs that I love, I'm not on facebook chat, and I'm not on my computer nearly as much. I'm too busy playing! I think once I have it all set up and I'm used to it I'll be back in the swing of things but it has been a very big life change to come home from work and not need to spend an hour catching up on everything I missed during the day (facebook and aol and pretty much everything is blocked at my school). I'm already caught up before I get home now! Plus all the other luxuries I have been missing out on are now at my fingertips-like having the barista at Starbucks scan my phone rather than reaching into my wallet and taking out my gold card, playing angry birds when I'm laying in bed and Mark is watching the baseball game, or taking a picture, uploading it to facebook, tagging it and commented on it without even having to plug anything in. Heaven! And you know who else is in heaven-my boy. He doesn't know what to do with himself with all the new games. Maybe he'll be busy enough to never cut Mallory's hair again (happened last week and no major damage done). What have I been doing all this time without these things?? Obviously I am kidding, I know we all somehow lived without this technology and I think its funny that one day soon we'll be telling our kids "When I was a teenager we actually had to dial a phone and talk to people using our voice, can you imagine?". :)
My birthday was great (besides just getting the phone), it happened to be on one of my days off and I spent the day with the kids. My mom came over with some balloons and treats and then I went out to a fun sushi dinner with friends.

The men taking these pictures were taking forever and really concentrating so hard on trying to get a good one none of us could keep a straight face

Yeah-those are fried oreos in front of me and the night also included "sushi pizza" and lots of other rolls, many of which had HUGE piles of tuna on top of them. We were joking that we probably had mercury poisoning but it was worth it because it was the best sushi I've had in a while.
I'm so lucky to have several groups of girlfriends who I always have fun with.

My mom took this picture and right when I saw it I thought that I looked like such a 32 year old mom in it. Something about the way I'm leaning over, a kid casually on my hip and another kid who is old enough to know how to blow out candles. A kitchen with a fridge with some preschool artwork. It's actually exactly the scene I hoped I would be in at 32. It was a happy day and I know it's cheesy but I just feel like I am exactly where I'm supposed to be.
I feel like this post should end with "sent from my iphone" but I still have to type longer things on a real computer :)
