22 months

Time for an update on my girl. At 22 months, Mallory....

-Likes to play with baby dolls but mostly just carries them around and puts them places, sometimes she will brush their hair or pretend to wash them or feed them
-Has become alot pickier and throws alot of food on the floor at meal time (and since she likes to eat things OFF the floor, I don't clean it up right away because that works for both of us-I mean really I'd rather her eat a cold piece of mac and cheese off the floor than a bug or a quarter or wahtever else she puts in her mouth right?)
-Loves playing with toy houses/barns/anything that has people to put in it
-Has about a 30 word vocabulary still doesn't use many words on a daily basis. She is starting to label more things in books though, she'll turn to a page and say doggie or duckie or shoe, but she won't say it when I ask her to of course.
-Will pull down anything within her reach, especially if it is filled with liquid :)
-Likes to sit at the little table to play or eat
-Likes hearing the ABCs, twinkle twinkle, 5 little monkeys, happy birthday, happy and you know it
-is trying to figure out how to show 2 fingers when I say How old are you-she can't quite do it yet but shes getting there.
-is into EVERYTHING and is pretty hard to be with in a new place or at someone elses house
-is the tallest in her mommy and me class by far, as in towering over the other kids
-likes counting, she will randomly just run around and say "sic, seban, ayyy"
-has become impossible to change and get dressed
-wants to stay in Max's classroom whenever we drop him off
-Is sooo easy to put to bed at night, I know I'm going to regret saying that when in a few months shes jumping out of her bed. I'm keeping this one in her crib for as looong as she will let me!

I can't believe she is almost 2. I keep my kids pictures organized by months and when Mallory was born, I just started putting both kids into "Mallory 1 month", "Mallory 2 months" etc. And now we just finished the 22 month album. With Max, it went up to 22 months because after that, Mallory was born. So I'm thinking that now I'm just going to start an April 2011 for both kids and just do it that way from now on. Just to be fair.

I've spent some alone time with both kids this week, some baking, some park play, some playdates and some just hanging out at home, which I'm learning is sometimes the best way to spend time off.

My second 22 months of being a mother was definitely different than the first. One thing that I can say is 22 months later, its still fun to pick out her outfits every day...

My kids are getting so big and it's going so fast. In some ways I want to skip over all the 2 year old stuff with Mallory because its just hard and I want to see who she is going to be as a 3 year old little girl. In other ways I want her to stay my baby. Crazy to think how much they change in only a few years.

No he doesn't do that anymore, he just did it for the camera, but I do miss that pose!

Speaking of change, this has been another week that has made me realize how quickly your life can change and how fragile life is. I know I've said this before but I'm not sure if these things are just happening more often or if its because we are getting older and we just know about more things? Either way, I'm thinking about a friend who has been through a terrible tragedy and all of the people who's lives have taken a different path than they ever expected. Alot has happened this year and it has made me really try my hardest to appreciate every day.

And I'm going to appreciate the rest of this night by eating ice cream and watching the end of the bachelor!
