Freedom

That's what I remember most about this weekend. We went to a wedding in West Palm-Mark's friend from boarding school (Yes Mark went to boarding school. No he wasn't a problem child). The actual wedding was beautiful-probably one of the most elegant weddings we have ever attended. I'm pretty sure we won't ever be at another wedding at Mar-a-Lago but I guess you never know. Besides the wedding, it was just so nice to be away, just the two of us for a whole weekend. Not having any responsibility besides ourselves and having the whole day to just do whatever. It rarely happens and every time it does now, I just want it to never end. Then I miss the kids by the end of the weekend and want to get back to our life (but not enough to say I didn't want to stay for a few more days). I always wonder what used to be stressful in my life before I had kids. Did I used to say I was tired? Did I complain about being too busy? Mark assures me that I did complain plenty before I had kids but it all seems so trivial now. I'm not belittling anyone who doesn't have kids yet and has good reason to be tired/stressed out/complaining-I'm sure you do have good reason. It just feels different once your life revolves around other people who are so dependant on you to think about what it was like when it didn't. To go get my hair done, get a manicure and pedicure, go out to dinner with Mark and see a movie and not once think about how long I was taking or feel bad that I had to go make someone dinner or relieve whoever was watching them all while knowing that I didn't have an early wake up call coming the next morning-it just felt nice and well deserved. Here are some pictures from the weekend:

This was fun...
A pretty good Michael impersonator. I have to admit, I was jealous of the bride in this one moment. Dancing on a stage in a gorgeous dress, the most beautiful that she'll ever look and all eyes on her. I remember what that feels like and its been a loooong time since I've gotten over the whole post bride blues thing.

Thank you gigi and poppop for watching the kids and making the weekend possible AND to my in-laws for letting us stay in their house which is close to where the wedding was so we had a vacation weekend without having to pay for a hotel!

Now back to reality (which is obviously not a bad reality to come back to)

I'll end with: Welcome to the world little Nathan Jacob. You are a lucky boy with that birthday of yours (10-10-10!!) You have a wonderful family who loves you and a very special mommy who I know is thrilled you are finally out!!!
