The rest of the week

Thursday we went to the park near our house. It was crazy there and of course Max did not like sharing the playground with other kids. He will just sit in the middle of the thing so noone can get to the slide. So there will be a line of kids waiting for Max to move so they can go down and he'll just sit there until I have to go remove him. We had a nice time though:

Friday we had a playgroup with all of my friends and their kids. It was nice because we rarely all get to be together with the kids but Hope was in town so it was a good excuse. We went to the playground at Fort Garrison and then back to Jill's house (who just had her second baby less than 2 weeks ago). Max did ok...he just isn't great when thrown into a new situation like that. He takes a while to warm up and then once he is warmed up he starts being a bully. But he kept from really hurting anyone. The sharing thing is just such a hard concept. I feel like he is going to be at a fraternity party in 18 years still saying "MINE" and grabbing beer out of his friends hands and throwing it across the room. Here are all the kids minus Jill's newborn:

And even though Mallory seems like a baby compared to these two right now, they will all be in the same grade. Class of 2027!

My trend this week has been getting them to fall asleep on the way back from somewhere and then letting Max stay asleep in the car with all the windows rolled down. It works out well in this weather because its still cool enough with the breeze and I'm able to keep going in and out to check on him. Plus a 30-40 minute nap is all he needs. He still needs something but if he gets more than an hour of daytime sleep hes up past 10:00 at night and its just not good. So this worked out really almost every day this week! My plan for today was to just walk to the playground in our neighborhood and then have them fall asleep in the stroller and just stay outside since it was warm but not too hot and the stroller has nice canopies that almost completely cover them. Well it worked but then I felt super ambitious and decided to walk all the way to the Quarry while they were sleeping. I figured it was a good opportunity and might as well use their nap time to be healthy. I came in the house and switched into better walking pants and sneakers and headed out. Mallory woke up about halfway there and Max woke up right before we got to Starbucks. Its about a 2 mile walk all the way but very hilly plus I was pushing about 60 pounds!! I rewarded myself with a grande caramel frappacino. I checked to make sure someone could pick us up there because I knew there was no way I'd be able to walk all the way back with them. My dad rescued me and took us back home.

I hate to say it but I am ready for work on Tuesday. I had a great week with the kids but I am really excited to be back in the real world--part time of course, I'll stay in this mommy world the other part of the week :)
