I made the invitation on photo shop. The image at the bottom is actually available on the Yo Gabba Gabba website so I just downloaded that and did the rest in Photoshop and Microsoft "paint"
Here is Mallory's outfit before it was on the birthday girl. I ordered it all on Etsy. I could have made the bow but to order Yo Gabba Gabba ribbon would be the same price as it was to just order the bow from someone else. There is so much Yo Gabba Gabba stuff on Etsy if you just search. The dress was made by "boogerbearpunkinpoo" and the bow and socks were by "AngelBaileyTutus". Both were great sellers and I got the items quickly.
Here it is on the birthday girl, all ready for her party!
I loved it on her and she will definitely wear it all again! She actually already asked to wear the dress today!
I made each character in cake pops. It was hard work but worth it because everyone LOVED them. This pictures shows the best of each. They didn't all turn out this way!
I used yellow cake with vanilla frosting (if you don't know how to make basic cake balls, look on bakerella's website-I have her book). I shaped all of the balls to look like the characters. I made about 7-8 of each. I got candy melts in pink, red, green, yellow and blue. I found the candy eyes in Michael's and bought two packs of them which was plenty. Rainbow chip sprinkles were used for Muno's Bumps, Brobees hair, Plex's antenna, and Toodee's ears. Heart sprinkles for Foofa and Toodee's noses and Toodee's teeth. Decorative Icing writers in red and black for all of the mouths. That's what I used for the square behind Plex's eyes too. I used a black edible ink pen for the eyelashes on Foofa and Toodee which I have never had much luck with but it worked just enough for a few strokes. The eyes and all the different sprinkles stayed on there pretty well with just the candy melts alone, I just put them all on before it was all set and dry.
I had fun making them, just know that if you attempt it it is VERY time consuming-like set aside a whole day just for the dipping and decorating. I started with 40 and ended up with about 35 of them total-a few got ruined in the process. One problem I ran into with these is when the kids were eating them, alot of them fell off the stick as they were being eaten and they would fall on the floor and the kid would cry and need a new one. So make sure they are eaten over a plate and at a table to minimize losing what you spent so much time on! Also I debated whether I should keep them in the fridge or on the counter for 2-3 days because I made them in advance. I couldn't decide so I left half on the counter and half in the fridge. They all looked and tasted exactly the same at the party so now I know both work for at least up to 3 days.
I also made these Muno pretzels that I saw on another website. They were SO easy. Just pretzel rods, dipped in red candy melts and a candy eye right in the middle. I let them dry on wax paper then kept them in the fridge. They were a hit! I made about 25 or so and I actually wish I made more because kids were asking for seconds and I didn't have any!
The confetti was from Party City.
I found a few variations of these goody bags online
This is a sample of what was inside of the bags. I got all of it at Party City. I was surprised that they had such a good Yo Gabba Gabba selection!
Just as a side note-I actually hate goody bag stuff. I hate bringing them home from other people's parties-all the little shakers and shooters and things that just clutter up my house and break. It's the same as Happy Meal toys. There is absolutely no use in the world for them but they are still an absolute must so you get them. Anyway, I always like to include something that is at least of some use-so I included the cup.
I knew Max wouldn't be able to handle Mallory wearing a Yo Gabba Gabba outfit if he didn't have one. He wanted one with "all the friends AND DJ Lance" so thats what he got...
I ordered it from tystoybox.com. They have so many shirts with characters from different shows and they personalize things.
I wasn't sure if Mark would go for the whole matching outfit thing especially if it meant wearing a big red shirt with a huge eye on it but he went for it! Our shirts were both ordered from ebay. I figure we can wear them on Halloween for the next few years.
My parents also got into the spirit of the part and came as Plex and Muno!
I had the cake made by Graul's and they did an AMAZING job.
Little did I know that you get charged extra for each "character" that they put on there. Noone told me so it was a bit of a sticker shock when I looked at the price when I picked it up. I talked it down a little but it was still more than I want to spend. So lesson learned-next time I order a cake I need to tell them the maximum I'm planning on spending BEFORE they make it!
Plates and napkins were from Party City. I had no idea that the room was bright green and it worked so well. Everything was so colorful!
Some more pictures of the fun...
| Adley is also a Gabba Guy so he of course came in his adorable shirt! |
It was a fun time had by all and I hope that even if my kids are already over it and have no clue the work that went into it, one day they will and that makes it worth it.
And my baby girl is 3!!
